The Veterinary Diagnostics Laboratory is a Biosafety Level 2 (BSL 2) facility. This laboratory offers AnimalNecropsy services for both small and large animals.   The building contains independent laboratory spaces for salmonella, serology, histology, necropsy, fungal and microbiology.

The building HVAC system consists of a “single-pass” custom air handling unit with integral energy recovery unit. The single-pass system is designed per standards of Biosafety Level 3 environments to accommodate future work with infectious agents.   Additional ventilation systems include biological safety cabinets, low flow bench top exhaust hoods, and specific lab odor control systems.

Other lab systems include the use of T5 and T5HO lamps for lighting in the lab rooms for brighter light levels per IESNA recommended guidelines.   A 3 million Btu animal incinerator is located on site.   Also, a two-ton hoist system is in place for moving large animals from the drop-off area to the necropsy table, the walk-in cooler or the incinerator.

This project consists of a laboratory, classroom and office addition to the existing Food Science Research building. The facility includes a 13 seat sensory analysis laboratory to be used for consumer testing of food products and other consumables including health and beauty aids. The sensory lab also has an adjacent sensory orientation conference/observation room for round table discussion, focus groups, and descriptive analysis. This laboratory contains a complete commercial kitchen for food preparation.

The plumbing drain system is designed for both traditional sanitary sewer systems and laboratory acid waste piping systems. The HVAC system consists of new rooftop units with a central building automation system. Special ventilation systems include laboratory fume hoods and commercial kitchen grease hoods. Audio/video systems are included in the conference rooms. A central data closet houses the IT equipment installed per University of Arkansas IT guidelines.

This new high school includes 98,600 square feet of instructional space for 618 students.  The educational space includes 42 classrooms and two science laboratories.  The school also includes a library with self-contained computer lab, media production lab, instrumental music room, choir room, parent center, career center, dining area loading dock and full commercial kitchen.

MEP Systems:
The building’s HVAC system includes a central air cooled chiller and boilers with dedicated pumps and a four pipe heating and cooling water delivery system.  Individual rooms are served with dedicated water source heat pumps connected to the four pipe system.  A dedicated outdoor air system delivers outdoor air to individual classrooms separately from the primary air conditioning system for energy efficiency and scale.  Carbon dioxide sensors in each classroom are interlocked with dedicated variable air volume (VAV) boxes and a central VAV air handling unit.  All exhaust air exits the building through energy recovery ventilators to capture and/or reject energy to reduce the building air conditioning energy consumption.  A central building automation system allows for central programming and control of all HVAC systems.

The entire interior lighting system is controlled via daylighting and occupancy sensors while exterior lighting has photocell/timeclock control.  All instructional space features dual level inboard/outboard switching of fixtures.
